It is unlikely that it will be possible to find seedlings on the market. In order to get cabbage of Savoy cabbage in the first ten days of July, they buy seeds of early varieties. They are sown in early March, and seedlings are planted in open ground on May 1-10. But for early cultivation, certain conditions will be required. Therefore, it is best to sow Savoy cabbage at the same time as white cabbage. If the seeds are sown in open ground in April under a film, then after forty days the seedlings are planted on permanent beds.
Seeds are planted shallow, it is very important for their rapid emergence. In five days the tops of the seedlings should appear, but this is if during the day the temperature is 12 degrees Celsius, and at night - two. Before planting, the seeds of Savoy cabbage are soaked in epin. And in the process of seedling growth, fertilizer “Fitosporin-M” is added, which protects it from the “black leg” disease. Care for the “savoy” is done exactly the same as for the white. Before the leaves are closed, the cabbage is fed, spud, loosen the soil around it. And after that, one watering will be enough. During the growth of Savoy cabbage, nitrogen fertilizers are needed, and potash-phosphorus - during the formation of heads of cabbage. For her, unlike the white squirrel, it requires more potassium and nitrogen by 35% and 15% more phosphorus. Therefore, a good amount of humus is brought into the hole for planting, and organic fertilizers and superphosphate (per 10 sq.m. 100 g) are introduced into the soil on the bed. To give the plant strength, it should be periodically watered with humate.
If aphid appears on the cabbage, then it is best to wash it off with jets of water, helping with a hand. Savoy cabbage is distinguished by its resistance to leaf-eating pests. In addition, it is frost-resistant. Later varieties are harvested after harvesting white cabbage. Ripe heads of cabbage can withstand temperatures of minus seven degrees.
Heads of Savoy cabbage are cut together with leaves covering it. They are also eaten. Early varieties are cut after reaching a head of sufficient density. They should have a diameter of 15 to 20 centimeters. The structure of Savoy cabbage is loose, but in later varieties it is more dense. The outer leaves are green and the inner ones are pale yellow to white.
