It is better to choose a place for planting badanas in light partial shade, on a site with bright lighting the badan is poorly developed. The soil should be light and loose, moisture-resistant. Badanas need regular watering, otherwise it does not bloom in a drought, and the leaves become very small and die. Excess and stagnation of moisture is also fatal. Does not tolerate weed neighborhood. A transplant badan tolerates very poorly, so it is better to grow it in a permanent place - in a rock garden or rocky garden. Its leaves have an original ornament and are able to decorate floral arrangements and massifs from early spring to late autumn. Some species during the onset of autumn change color from green to bronze, yellow or crimson. The flowering of the incense begins early in the spring and lasts 3-4 weeks.
Most common in culture frangipani (Bergenia crassifolia)known as mongolian tea or chagyr. The height of this perennial is up to 50 cm. The basal rosette consists of leathery large leaves of light green color with a shiny surface. Bell-shaped flowers are light or dark pink, almost red, appear on a thick peduncle in April, collected in panicle, umbrella or corymbose inflorescences, flowering continues until mid-June. Sometimes, in the warm autumn, the incense can bloom repeatedly in August-September, and the color of its foliage changes to red.
View frangipani (Bergenia cordifolia) blooms a little later, and has large leaves of a heart-shaped form, which is why it got its name.

Buds are propagated by seeds (only in seedlings, not in open ground) or by dividing the bush, which is produced in the fall - before the onset of frost, so that the bud can be rooted well, and the first time it is regularly watered. Seeds are sown in March, in early spring in boxes or bowls, shallowly sealed with fine-grained sand, and they must be shaded. The temperature of seed germination should be 18-20 degrees, high humidity is required. In greenhouse conditions, seedlings appear after 2-3 weeks. In open ground transplanted in June. The incense grows and develops very slowly, by the fall of the seedlings only two leaves will develop, with which the evergreen conifer leaves to winter. For the winter, the first year, the seedlings of the frankincense must be covered with a mulching layer. Later, the incense does not need shelter. Flowering can occur only after 3-5 years.

Badan among the inhabitants of Siberia is a cult plant. Here, they harvest its rhizomes and leaves every year. The fact is that in the organs of the plant there are a lot of tannins - substances used to tan leather in the leather and footwear industry and in the technology of dyeing fabrics. Last year's leaves, dried and darkened, gathered in the spring, in Altai and the Far East, they are collected and used as tea leaves, hence its famous name - Altai tea. It is not surprising that frankincense is so successful - it is a medicinal plant, because it has disinfecting and hemostatic properties, treats inflammatory diseases. Badan is recommended for uterine bleeding with erosion, as well as for leucorrhoea. Useful for inflammation and ulceration of the mucous membrane in the mouth and nose.
