Daurian Moonseed (Menispermum dahuricum). The family of the moon-seed - Menispermaceae.
Strongly winding semi-shrub liana, reaching a height of 5 m or more. Shoots are yellowish-green, bare. Leaves vary from angular-thyroid to 3-5 lobed, bright green, glabrous, leathery, 4-18 cm long. The flowers are small, greenish, collected in panicle inflorescences. Fruits are black, rounded, about 1 cm in diameter, poisonous.
In Russia, wildly grows in Eastern Siberia and the Far East. In Belarus, he is known in culture in the Vitebsk region, Minsk region and other places. In Minsk, buds bloom in late April - early May, the first leaves appear in the 1st – 2nd = decade of May, complete leaflet begins in late May, leaf fall in late September - early October. The moon seed is blooming in June, the fruits ripen in September - October.
In Belarus, it is winter-hardy, shade-tolerant, not demanding on soil, gas-resistant, grows rapidly, but is sensitive to dry air and soil. In the dry period, it needs regular watering.
Cultivated as an ornamental and medicinal plant.
Suitable for vertical gardening of one-story buildings, verandas, arbors, balconies. It perfectly decorates arches, pergolas, trellises, trellis.
