Preparing perennials for winter
In the last decade of August and September, the preparation of perennial plants for the winter period should begin. Safe wintering is the key to a good harvest of fruit and berry crops and an attractive appearance of ornamental plants in the next growing season.
To increase the resistance of plants to low temperatures, spraying (no later than mid-September) with an anti-stress adaptogen will help Epinom Extra (1 ml) with organic mineral fertilizer EcoFusom (25 ml) per 10 l of water.
Attention! Doses of preparations for autumn processing are halved!
Epin Extra will provide accelerated production of cold shock proteins in plants, which will increase the concentration of carbohydrates in cells, and thereby increase their frost resistance.
EcoFus will provide plants with all the necessary nutrients, including trace elements (over 42) in readily available natural form. And trace elements will also contribute to the accumulation of carbohydrates in plant tissues, increasing the resistance of plants to low temperatures.
In late August (at the beginning of yellowing of the leaves), it is necessary to carry out root dressing of trees and shrubs with phosphorus and potassium (superphosphate 40-50 g per square meter + potassium sulfate 40 g per 10 l of water or potassium monophosphate 5-20 g per 10 liters of water). You can use any fertilizer brand "Autumn".
If necessary, to deoxidize the soil, you can use dolomite flour from 250-600 g per square meter.
Is known, what mineral fertilizer batteries digested only on 30-40%. In this regard, it is more advisable to spray plants with chelated forms of trace elements (chelates - metal compounds with organic acids). Such molecules easily penetrate into the sheet, where metal ions become bioavailable.
Trace elements in chelated form are absorbed by 90%.
One such fertilizer is Siliplantcontaining active silicon (in the form of soluble micelles), potassium, boron and a complex of trace elements in chelated form: iron, magnesium, copper; zinc; manganese; molybdenum and cobalt.
Autumn top dressing Siliplant 10-20 ml per 10 l of water will increase the content of bound water in plant cells, and thereby increase their resistance to low temperatures, as well as increase the mechanical strength of tissues, which is especially important for young plants.
Another fertilizer containing trace elements in chelated form is a nutrient solution - Tsitovit. Autumn top dressing Cytovitis (10-20 ml per 10 l of water) will also contribute to increasing the frost resistance of plants, by increasing the concentration of carbohydrates in the cells.
In September-October, tree trunks are cleaned of exfoliating bark, on which various pests can remain wintering.
In the late autumn (after leaf decay), as well as in the early spring (before bud blooming), preventive treatments for many diseases are carried out copper preparations (Abiga Peak 50 ml per 10 l of water, Home 40 g per 10 l of water, Bordeaux mixture 200-600 g per 10 liters of water).
To combat mosses and lichens, trees are sprayed iron sulphate 300 - 500 g / 10 l of water or copper sulfate (after leaf decay or before buds open) 100 g per 10 l of water.
Roses are cut off before shelter, spud by 20-25 cm and covered with peat.
Fruits from trees are harvested completely, without leaving rotten, sick. They are collected and destroyed. Fallen leaves are disposed of.
Tree trunks in the fall need to whiten to prevent cracking of the bark during temperature fluctuations, and heat-loving plants cover special materials from frost.
Compliance with all recommendations will save the plants in the winter, increase their productivity and decorative qualities.
