Radish - a rare root crop
In our gardens, it unfairly takes a modest place. Radish root vegetables are appreciated for the high content of specific (rare) essential oil, mineral salts, vitamin C and other bactericidal substances. It has twice as much dry matter as radish, a lot of sugar and protein.

Margelan (summer). Early grade. Sow in July. The root crop is cylindrical, short (9-16 cm), dark green in color with a white tip. The pulp is light green, juicy, almost without bitterness. Weight 400 g. The taste is excellent.
Winter round black. Mid-season, fruitful. The root crop is flat-rounded. The pulp is white, juicy, slightly sharp in taste. Used for summer and autumn-winter consumption, well stored.

Preparation of a bed, terms and scheme of sowing
The root crops of the radish are quite large, so they dig a bed to a depth of 30 - 35 cm.
Organic and mineral fertilizers are applied in the same way as for carrots.
To obtain root crops in the summer-autumn period, seeds are sown from April 25. For winter storage - from June 20 to July 10.
Furrows with a depth of 1.5 - 2 cm are made on a bed at a distance of 30 - 35 cm. Seeds are sown in grooves in nests of 3 pieces each. The distance between the nests is 15 cm.
Subsequently, 5 to 6 days after emergence, 1 healthy plant is left in each nest of three seedlings.

Care for radish consists in constant watering, cultivation and hilling. Radish is watered once a week for 10-12 liters per 1 m2.
Summer radish, reaching a diameter of 3-4 cm, is chosen for consumption. They dig up the late radish in early October. In root crops, tops are cut flush with the head, without damaging the pulp, and placed in boxes or paper bags, sprinkled with a small layer of sand (2 - 4 cm). Storage temperature 2 - 3 ° C.
